Technology Update: A Geometrically Adaptable Heart Valve Replacement

Prosthetic heart valves used in a variety of congenital abnormalities in many young children. As the heart grows along with the kids, the valves would require a replacement through repeated surgeries. A team of researchers has now developed an artificial valve that can be expanded, through a minimally invasive transcatheter procedure, which can compensate for the growing lumen where the valve sits.
