Supermarine Swift � Not Quite a Spitfire Successor

During the postwar period, the Royal Air Force operated the Supermarine Swift jet interceptor aircraft. A swept wing design was developed in the early 1950s. In spite of her impressive performance, the Swift was outclassed by aircraft such as the Hawker Hunter, like many of these post-war jets.
