Stripe vs Merchant Account for High-Risk Businesses: What You Need to Know

Trinity Consultings15 Jul, 2025Finance

Stripe generally denies high-risk businesses and Amazon requires them to have specialized merchant accounts. High-risk merchant accounts have single-point underwriting, higher approval rates, and features and service tailored to specific industries. They are also several hundred dollars more than the Stripe account. Even though a high-risk merchant account will cost significantly more than Stripe, it is necessary for businesses in industries where Stripe is limited such as gambling, adult content, CBD, and other restricted businesses.
