Alcohol and drug addiction hotlines (or helplines) provide a toll-free telephone number for those people who are struggling with their substance abuse, or their drug or alcohol addiction. Hotline Is Free, Confidential, Anonymous Either confidentially or anonymously, anyone can call the toll-free number, whether they are the person with the substance use issue themselves, or they are a relative or a friend phoning because they are concerned about someone else. In this article, we will look in detail at these hotlines ? potential lifelines for some callers ? and describe how they can really help those who are struggling with substance abuse problems or actual substance addiction, medically described as substance use disorder (SUD).
