Small Sachets - Big Saviours

Interteck Packaging01 Aug, 2023Health

Ever wondered why you get to see small white packets inside every packed item you buy? These packets are not ordinary. They are humidity packets that control the right amount of humidity for your product, thus saving it from any damage from excess humidity and also, at times, bad odor. Silica gel is a drying agent. What differentiates it from other desiccants is the most prominent feature in the desiccant vs silica gel is its specificity for water absorption. Usually, silica gel is chemically inert and non-toxic. However, indicating humidity packs can contain cobalt chloride and should be avoided in the packaging of ingestible products. We see extensive use of silica gel for food packaging and storing. This is safe as food items are not in direct contact with silica gel particles, and food-grade silica gel is used.
