Slow-release hydrogel aids immunotherapy for cancer

STINGel combines a new category of immunotherapy drugs called stimulator of interferon gene (STING) agonists with an injectable hydrogel that releases a drug in a solid sip to activate a defence complement to kill cancer cells. It was grown by a Rice lab of chemist and bioengineer Jeffrey Hartgerink and Rice alum Simon Young, an partner highbrow of verbal and maxillofacial medicine during UTHealth.
