When caring for people with disabilities, the focus primarily concerns the person in need. Their well-being, health, and comfort take precedence, and rightly so. However, while tending to others, the caregivers often find themselves neglecting their own mental and emotional health. This is where the concept of respite care steps in, allowing people with disabilities and their carers to take a short break from their normal routine. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) offers Short-Term Accommodation (STA) support, which includes funding for respite service and thereby provides valuable support to both participants and their caregivers in several impactful ways. NDIS Short-Term Accommodation, including respite, create a supportive environment where participants can take a break from their usual routines, experience new opportunities, and benefit from specialised care.
