The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides various funded support and services to people with disabilities which enables them to live the life that they desire. The disability support needs of an individual as well as the life that they aspire to live change with time and their age. The care and support required for a child with disabilities are entirely different from the assistance that a young adult with disabilities may require. But the NDIS has a diverse range of support and services in place to address the needs of all its participants. Though the eligibility criteria of the NDIS have an age requirement between 7 and 65 years, early support for young children and their families is available through Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI). The primary goal of the ECEI approach is to provide aid to children with developmental delays or disabilities during the early stages of their lives.
