The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a disability support initiative legislated in 2013 by the Australian government. Ever since its nationwide rollout in 2020, the NDIS has been providing direct funding to eligible people with disabilities to access necessary support and services. The NDIS aims to move away from the traditional one-size- fits-all approach to disability services. Instead, it focuses on individualised plans that consider the unique needs, goals, and aspirations of each participant. To access NDIS support, certain eligibility criteria must be met. Generally, eligible individuals must be between the ages of 9 and 65 and have a permanent and significant disability that impacts their ability to carry out daily activities or participate in the community.
