Russia Suspends New START

Russia has recently declared that it will no longer participate in the New START, which is currently the final significant military accord between Russia and the United States. The name "START" is derived from the original "Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty," also known as START-I, which was signed in 1991 between the United States and the former Soviet Union.
