The Callisto Protocol has a strong beginning. The game's opening thirty minutes are a powerful introduction that expertly sets up the plot and the stakes while immersing you in a terrifying environment that feels ready to spook you to death. The game provides a good initial impression thanks to its excellent production quality and gory sci-fi horror atmosphere. Unfortunately, it never quite lives up to its potential. Although there is entertainment to be had and The Callisto Protocol may be a good way to launch a fresh IP that has the potential to develop greatly in the future, Striking Distance Studios' sci-fi horror game ultimately falls short of expectations in too many major ways. In the end, it's difficult not to feel let down.
