Another wonderful characteristic of retractable awnings is their quality design, construction, and materials. Quality awnings are TUV certified by the Technology Surveillance Association, providing the assurance that the product has met or exceeded industry standards for quality and safety. However, most awning manufacturers will recommend that awnings be fully retracted in difficult weather conditions. The actual water-resistant and color-safe fabric, stainless steel, and coated brackets and operating mechanism are fully hooded against the home or other building, providing protection from rain, snow, and ice. Additionally, the awning housing is mounted to the roof, exterior wall, or soffit of the home, conferring additional coverage.
