Rectifiers in Automation: Converting Power for Precision

Rectifiers have a critical role in industrial automation where AC is converted into DC to provide stable and precise power for a wide variety of automation systems. Most industrial components, such as motors, sensors, programmable logic controllers, and robots, operate optimally on DC, which provides a consistent performance. DC power does not have the fluctuations inherent in AC power. Rectifiers are half-wave, full-wave, and controlled; they serve as a source of the right kind of power to those systems that will be using it. Full-wave rectifiers provide smoother, more efficient conversion than does the half-wave.
