REACH is a European Union(EU) regulation aimed at protecting human health and the environment from the risks posed by chemicals, as well as promoting alternative methods for chemical hazard assessment to reduce tests on animals. REACH stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals and came into effect on 1 June 2007. REACH requirements applies to all chemical substances, whether it is a chemical used in an industrial process or in daily life such as in a cleaning solution or paint. To comply with the regulation, Manufacturers and Importers must identify and manage the risks related to the substances they market in the EU.
