Team India head coach Ravi Shastri has contracted COVID-19 during India's ongoing tour of England. While his lateral flow test had returned positive earlier, his RT-PCR test also returned with a positive result and he will now have to undergo 10 days of isolation. Meanwhile, the other three support staff members Bharat Arun, Nitin Patel and R Sridhar who were deemed as close contacts of Shastri and had already been advised isolation and will continue their quarantine. The results of their tests are yet to be disclosed. Notably, while Shastri's lateral flow test for COVID-19 had returned positive on September 4 evening, the players were allowed to travel to the Oval since they all returned negative results. However, the other members of the support staff had isolated themselves.
