Rare Disease: LAFORA Disease

Lafora disease is a fatal, genetic disorder characterized by the presence of inclusion bodies called "Lafora bodies" within the cytoplasm of the cells in the heart, liver, muscle, and skin. It is a neurodegenerative disease that causes impairment in the development of cerebral cortical neurons. It is also a glycogen metabolism disorder.
