Quick Guide to Getting Your Medicare Card

Pain Awareness: Taki29 Dec, 2023Health

To start your Medicare journey and receive your Medicare card, you should sign up for at least Part A. You can do this during your Initial Enrollment Period, which includes three months before you turn 65, your birthday month, and the three months after. If you choose to begin Social Security benefits at age 65, you'll be automatically enrolled in Original Medicare. Otherwise, you need to enroll yourself. You can sign up even if you continue working past 65, but you might want to consider your employer's benefits. Once you enroll in Original Medicare, your Medicare card will be sent to you in a welcome packet, arriving about two weeks after your enrollment is complete. You can enroll through Social Security online, by phone at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY: 1-800-325-0778), or by contacting your local Social Security Office. If you need assistance, the Medicare Support Center is available to help make your Medicare journey smooth.
