Protection IV is the highest level this enchantment goes and reduces the damage taken by anything by 16%. This effect can be stacked depending on how many pieces of armor the player has with the enchantment. The Protection enchantment is comprehensive protection against all types of damage such as damage from attacks, fire, lava, and falling. You can add the Protection enchantment to any piece of armor such as helmets, chest plates, leggings or boots using an enchanting table, anvil, or game command.
