Mupirocin, an antibiotic prescription drug, comes as a topical ointment, topical cream, and nasal ointment work by stopping the growth of bacteria and killing it. Mupirocin stops the bacteria from multiplying and it is used to cure skin infection caused by bacteria called impetigo and folliculitis. Mupirocin does not cause drowsiness but there are some precautions to avoid the side effects like burning, itching, rashes, nausea that are always used as prescribed. As Mupirocin is used only for the external part one must avoid using this medication around sensitive parts like eyes, nose, mouth, and on any damaged or broken skin.
