In an air-conditioning system, no other components can be more important than the refrigerant because it's impossible for an air conditioner to carry out the indoor heat outside the home without the refrigerant. The coolant (another name of the refrigerant) absorbs the indoor heat in order to transfer it outside the home, and this process is called the air-conditioning cycle.
