Gestational surrogacy in USA is not subject to any federal restrictions or requirements in the United States. In fact, it is governed differently in each state, with its own set of legal and ethical guidelines. Surrogacy is not recognized in three states (Nebraska, Michigan, and Louisiana), and it is deemed "illegal" in those regions. If you're thinking of becoming a gestational carrier, be aware that the majority of states have no rules or restrictions at all, or consider a surrogacy agreement to be unenforceable.
