A Ph.D. degree is the highest award a student can achieve from a university. It is basically a type of research degree or project based on a specific area of academic interest, presented as a thesis, typically up to 100,000 words in length, which is further defended in an oral examination at the end of the course. Every student that is pursuing a PhD in UK is assigned a supervisor during their course of study which is three years full-time and six years part-time.
