Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, or PCOS, is an endocrine condition in which the ovaries produce more androgens than normal. Almost one out of every ten women has PCOS, making it one of the primary reasons of female infertility. Androgens are masculine hormones that exist in both men and women. In women, androgens produced by the ovaries, fat cells, and adrenal glands are transformed into estrogen. But in women with PCOS, androgens are not converted into estrogen, resulting in the production of numerous liquid-filled cysts containing immature eggs.
