Macular telangiectasia 2 is a rare eye condition that affects blood vessels in the macula, the central part of the retina responsible for sharp and detailed vision. It is a progressive, irreversible disease. Parafoveal telangiectasia occurs more frequently in women over 40 and is more common among men. Although the cause is unknown, it is believed that disruptions in blood flow and oxygen to the retina are the culprits.
