Over $500 million fine levied against Epic Games for its 'unfair' microtransaction practices in Fort

The FTC describes two different settlements as being "record-breaking," which led to the penalties. One is a $275 million punishment for failing to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection [COPPA] regulation, which places restrictions on websites and online services targeted at children under the age of 13. Additionally, Epic will be required to reimburse consumers for their "dark patterns" to the tune of $245 million.
