Nuclear decommissioning services are a key part of any energy-producing industry. A nuclear facility must first be cleaned up before any attempt is made to decommission it. After this is complete, a decontamination plant will dispose of any materials left over from the cleanup process. One of the most important things to remember about nuclear decommissioning is that the quality of the soil surrounding the nuclear facility will determine how well the facility will preserve the radioactive waste. It is very important to first attempt to contain the radioactivity outside the plant, but once the site has been reached there will be a much bigger challenge. The radioactivity from the nuclear fuel is spread out over a wide area, so if a large proportion of the waste is disposed of in a specific location it can cause much more problems.
