In addition to tyrosine and phenylalanine limitation, nitisinone capsules is a hydroxyphenyl-pyruvate dioxygenase inhibitor used to treat hereditary tyrosinemia type 1 (HT-1).Nitisinone is a white to yellowish-white crystalline powder. It seldom dissolves in methanol and 2M sodium hydroxide, is completely insoluble in water, and only very rarely dissolves in alcohol. Nitisinone is available as a capsule containing 2, 5, or 10 mg of nitisinone. It has to be eaten. Each capsule includes pregelatinized starch with 2, 5, or 10 milligrams of nitisinone. The gelatin and titanium dioxide pill shell generate the iron oxide effect.
