Nick Hagen is a fifth-generation farmer, having grown up in Minnesota like his father. He was raised on a farm in the East Grand Forks community. At a young age, he began helping out around the house and on the farm by mowing the lawn and performing other manual labor. He had always found farming to be an appealing idea. Nick, though, loved music even more. Depending on the season, he played trombone in bands during his high school years. He chose to apply to The Juilliard School, a renowned music college in New York, because of his talent.
