NFPA 1081 is the Standard on Industrial Fire Brigade Member Qualifications, which details the minimum qualifications, training, and performance capabilities of both the team and individuals as they respond to fires and other incidents in both the workplace, and beyond. It describes four types of brigade members — Incipient, Advanced Exterior, Interior Structural, and Facility Fire Brigade Leaders. It encompasses standard operating procedures for fire suppression and hazard recognition, rescue operations, and fire prevention strategies to be used in industrial settings. NFPA 1081 helps industrial fire brigades play a critical role in making the workplace more safe and providing adequate emergency response when an emergency does occur on their property.
