Supported Independent Living (SIL) is type of support that helps NDIS participants to overcome their functional limitations and live as independently as possible at their homes. This support allows the participants to move out of the homes of their parents or loved ones and live on their own. SIL support covers the cost of trained support workers who will assist with daily personal tasks and builds the independence of the participants. Supported Independent Living support can truly boost the confidence and morale of the participants by providing them with greater freedom and choice. Participants can access this NDIS-funded support with the help of both registered and unregistered Supported Independent Living Providers. SIL services can be accessed by participants if they are 18 years of age or older. SIL supports are usually delivered to shared living arrangements where participants with similar support needs live together.
