The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) helps people with disabilities, including those with Down Syndrome to live as independently as possible through funded support and services. Thinking about moving out of parental care and wanting to live in a space of their own is an important part of adulthood. Adults with Down Syndrome may require care and support to help them with this transition. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is the funded support that can help them in this process. Essentially, Supported Independent Living (SIL) means living in your own home while receiving assistance. It is paid personal support which will help the participants to carry out daily activities, take care of personal care tasks, receive help with medication management as well as medical appointments and build their independent living skills. The choice of where and with whom the participant prefers to reside is entirely up to them. Though Supported Independent Living is a shared support
