I adore this saying because I believe in leaders who walk the walk. When I speak with successful Executive Directors who are committed to employee happiness and retention but who don't priorities their own leadership growth by requesting an annual performance evaluation from their board, I find myself scratching my head. Although it's also crucial to note that you shouldn't need one because the board should be responsible for selecting, assisting, and overseeing the Executive Director, more often than not, Executive Directors must take the helm.
