Mount k2 (8611M/28,251ft) lies on the borders of China and Pakistan and is the second-highest mountain in the world. K2 is located in the Karakorum Range and lies partly in the Chinese-administered enclave of the Kashmir region within the Uygur Autonomous Region of Xinjiang of China. The main summit is between Baltistan, in the Gilgit?Baltistan region of northern Pakistan.
