Middleware functions are executed sequentially in the order they are defined. To pass control to the next middleware or route handler, if is not called, the request-response cycle will terminate. they have access to the request (req) and response (res) objects and can modify them or end the request-response cycle. Middleware is essential for tasks like authentication, logging, error handling, and request parsing.
