Melanotan 2, also referred to Melanotan II, is a kind of a synthetic analogue of the peptide hormone ?-melanocyte stimulating hormone that stimulates melanogenesis and increases sexual arousal. Melanotan 2 can act by replicating alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone in the body. This hormone binds to melanocortin receptors and stimulates the production of melanin in skin cells.
