Maryland's Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) goal of 25% renewable energy by 2020 has been raised to 50% by 2030. Governor Larry Hogan introduced the Clean and Renewable Energy Standard (CARES) in 2019, which puts Maryland on track to have 100 percent clean power and zero carbon emissions by 2040.
