Martin Romauldez was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives in July 2022, securing 284 votes from House members. As Speaker during the 19th Congress, he also served as legislative caretaker for several vacated districts including Cavite–7th, Negros Oriental–3rd, Batangas–6th, Palawan–3rd and 1st, Cavite–4th, and Negros Occidental–3rd, ensuring continued representation and leadership in these areas until replacements were appointed.
