There would have been no use to bother about learning another language if you only had to deal with people who speak the same language as you.Admittedly, the ease with which you learn a new language will be greatly influenced by your native language. Some languages have the same root and people who can speak either language are more likely to learn faster than those speaking an unrelated language.
