On November 8, 2016, most California citizens approved Proposition 57. Proposition 57 accomplishes three goals: first, it permits nonviolent offenders in state prison to be considered for early parole. Furthermore, it empowers the CDCR to grant extra program credentials and good behavior to inmates who are enrolled in recognized rehabilitative or development activities.
