Sometimes it is required to smoothen a surface, and to smooth out a surface, few products are used which are called abrasive products. These make the required surface smooth by extensive rubbing, and hence remove the extra material from the surface, which was causing roughness. Most commonly used abrasives are pumice, sandpaper, emery, and sand. For wood work, mostly sandpaper is used as abrasive.
