Laser Displacement Sensor: Welding-induced Distortion Measurement

Anjali Pawar25 Nov, 2021Business

laser displacement sensor is useful for localised measurement. An LVDT is a great way to translate mechanical displacement into an electrical signal2. A commercial LVDT's sensitivity ranges from 0.003 to 0.25 V/mm of displacement per volt of excitation. Excitation could be alternating current or direct current, with a typical excitation voltage of 3 V. The displacement ranges that an LVDT can measure range from 0.125mm to 0.64m, which covers the majority of welding distortion. The LVDT normally has an inaccuracy of roughly 0.5 percent of the maximum linear output.
