Even though calcium oxalate crystals are the most common type of crystals, it does not mean to eliminate calcium from your diet, you still need foods that have calcium! Getting too little calcium in your diet can cause oxalate levels to rise and actually lead to calcium oxalate crystals. To prevent this, make sure to get enough calcium appropriate to your age by consuming foods high in calcium and Vitamin D (or take a calcium supplement if necessary).
