Introduced in the year 2005 by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under the National Rural Health Mission, Janani Suraksha Yojana aims to reduce maternal and child mortality through promoting institutional delivery among poor pregnant women. As per the guidelines, women from below the poverty line are eligible to benefit, particularly in states with low institutional delivery rates.
