A kettle reboiler is a type of heat exchanger used to provide heat to the bottom of distillation columns. It features a shell with a horizontally mounted tube bundle and a large liquid reservoir or "kettle." Vaporization occurs as heat is transferred from a hot fluid inside the tubes to the liquid in the shell. The generated vapors return to the column, while excess liquid is withdrawn. It's ideal for handling large vapor loads and is easy to maintain.
