Kamala Das Surraiya, known as Kamala Das, was a significant poet from Kerala who made remarkable contributions to Indian English literature. She was educated at home, privately. Kamala Das is also a bilingual writer; she wrote poems and short stories in her mother tongue, Malayalam, and most of her books in Malayalam were published under her pseudonym, Madhavikutty.
