Jones Act and Workers Compensation Differences

Jessicawilson00731 Jan, 2022Business

The Jones Act is a federal law that protects U.S. import ships from foreign competition. Maintenance and cure claims are separate claims and are not the same as a claim filed under the Jones Act. Marine workers are eligible for compensation in the event of injuries at work. When filing cases, these workers must understand the differences between these two compensation claims.
