Technically, Venetoclax is a sort of targeted therapy rather than chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is referred to as a drug treatment that destroys aggressive cells in the body, which means that it often destroys other normal cells in the body that grow aggressively, such as RBCs and cells in the hair. Venetoclax acts by binding to a specific protein named B-cell lymphoma-2 which is overexpressed on the malignant cells in individuals with cancers such as CLL and AML. By binding to B-cell lymphoma-2, venetoclax tablets kill malignant CLL and AML lymphocytes, rather than other sorts of cells.
