You might not need to empty the aquarium if the leak is in one of the corners. Reduce the water table beneath the leak. Carefully remove a few inches of silicone from the aquarium's inside using a razor or hobby knife. And best solution to prevent this is asi aquarium sealant. Just a few inches above and below the leak should be removed. Make sure all of the old sealants are removed because the new silicone won't adhere to the old seal.
