International Court of Justice and Climate Change

Seo.drishti10 Apr, 2023Education

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has been requested by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to provide its perspective on countries' responsibilities regarding Climate Change, in line with the U.N. Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC), after passing a resolution. This resolution was advocated by Vanuatu, one of the world's smallest nations, which suffered significant losses in 2015 due to Cyclone Pam, attributed to climate change, leading to the destruction of 95% of their crops and affecting two-thirds of the population.
