David Hager has become one of the most influential figures in advancing and advocating for the integration of the Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) community into Israeli society. In doing so, Hager has initiated various tracks allowing the integration of Haredi youth in the army, the most famous of which is the NahalHaredi brigade, which was started seventeen years ago in 1999 with thirty soldiers, and gradually grew to become the largest ground combat brigade in the Israeli Defense Forces.
